Ryanair Planning Beds and Blowjobs Service?
Monday June 23, 2008
Never one to mince his words, Ryanair-Boss Michael O'Leary recently announced details of the projected long-haul service during a press conference in Germany. He dangled two carrots in front of the audience - basic prices as low as € 10 for a transatlantic flight and a luxury class where betwen € 4,000 and € 5,000 would be charged. For a service summarized by O'Leary as "beds and blowjobs".
At which point his German marketing manager Anja Seugling needed some liquid refreshments while the translator threw in the towel.
While Ryanair has up to now advocated that "flying should be like taking the bus", it now seems to be aiming squarely at those eager to join the legendary Mile High Club. Or not, as "beds and blowjobs" in a Ryanair press release was defined as the working title of a "high quality business class service".
For those unbelievers amongst you the video of Ryanair's sexually loaded press conference is on YouTube. Which site also carries a comment worth noting. It seems to come from a member of the Ryanair cabin crew, giving her name as Orscha:

"this is very sad :( its shows the quality of our management....I cant belive, no one say a world for it....its reflect on all cabin crew...ater this even less respect from passengers.... "A point worth noting, even if O'Leary's gaffe (if it was one) should be rated as priceless when it comes to maximum media exposure. And one cannot help wondering what Freud would have made out of O'Leary's body language, pensively sucking on his pen just before the announcement ...
