World Heritage Sites - Visit Them in Your Armchair on About.com

Monday July 13, 2009
The UNESCO has a list of 890 "world heritage sites" ... places which, if lost, would make the world a much less interesting place. And places which are of exceptional importance to understand the history of our planet and the human race. Even though you might never have heard of them. Why, one may well wonder, is the Bamiyan Valley in Afghanistan so important? What's the story with the Statue of Liberty? And where in the world is Hollókő?

Questions, questions, questions ... and you may find some fine answers on About.com's Travel Channel!

Martha Bakerjian, About.com Guide to Italy (topping the world heritage list with 44 entries ... Italy that is, not Martha), has put together a mammoth link list in our newest blog carnival, "A Look at UNESCO World Heritage Sites". Go and enjoy ...
