I can see a "Dances with Wolves" moment coming along somewhere ... landscapes from America’s wild west will soon(ish) be gracing Northern Ireland. This will take place on thirty acres of unused land at the Ulster American Folk Park near Omagh. And cost around £ 2,400,000 - a major investment in anyone's book.
Whole farmsteads complete with homes, barns and other buildings will be reproducing what life would have been like for Irish immigrants in the new world. Funding has been primarily provided by the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure.
Add this to the "good news section" too: The rest of the park, attracting 160,000 visitors annually, should not be affected by construction works.
