SeptemberFest for Dublin Gourmets
Wednesday September 2, 2009
While half the world is gearing up for their "Oktoberfests", food and drink lovers in Dublin will get a slightly different treat when SeptemberFest returns to the Phoenix Park - at Farmleigh on Saturday, September 12th, and Sunday, September 13th.
Advertised as a festival of food, drink, music, entertainment and fun for all ages it has a definite plus: entry is free. Rare these days, where even a modest county show will have you fork out € 15 for adult entry.
SeptemberFest 2009 features independent micro-breweries, cider makers, distillers and liqueur companies - including well-known Dublin brewers Messrs Maguire and the Porterhouse. There will be tastings as well, don't worry. But it is nor only drinks. A plethora of artisan food producers will be on site with tempting treats.
A stage will host live entertainment for all ages, from traditional groups and brass bands to more modern music. In addition, younger will find themselves courted by circus performers and street entertainers.
Farmleigh will open its gates for the festival crowd from 11 am to 6.30 pm each day - or further details log onto Bord Bia's dedicated SeptemberFest web page.
