Flyglobespan - Who Are They?

Scottish budget carrier Flyglobespan entered the Irish market in 2007 by providing transatlantic services out of Knock. In 2008 the Knock service was, however, not re-instated and seems to have been scrapped for good.

What Services does Flyglobespan Provide?

Long-haul flights to North America.

Which of Ireland's Airports Are Serviced by Flyglobespan?

Dublin Airport and Belfast International Airport.

What International Airports Does Flyglobespan Connect To?

Orlando Sanford, Toronto Hamilton and Vancouver.

Flyglobespan's Fleet - What Planes Can You Expect?

Boeing (different types).

Can You Expect Problems With Flyglobespan?

The first months of operation from Knock were plagued by problems - a too-tight schedule combined with technical problems and a temporary closure of British airports led to passengers left stranded in New York for a week. Then Flyglobespan lost a certification for long-distance flights over open seas, leading to diverted routes and delays. Passengers also raised complaints that they were paying for extra services Flyglobespan was not in a position to provide.

Altogether not a promising start ... and only time will tell whether Flyglobespan can overcome these teething problems or whether they will be terminal.

In February 2008 the scrapping of the Knock route was made official and looks to be permanent.
