University College Cork, south of the Cork Public Museum and west of the city center, is well worth a visit – if you phone ahead. The collections are not generally open to the public, but can be enjoyed by prior appointment.
Collections of early printing products from Cork and Ogham stones should satisfy those in search of Ireland's literary heritage (to use the term „literary“ in a rather broad context). Lovers of fine art should head for the Honan Chapel, which has some fine windows by Sarah Purser and Harry Clarke.
