Mountain Boarding Down the Mourne Mountains
County Down

By , About.com Guide

Mountain Boarding down the Mourne Mountains is, essentially, snowboarding without snow. Or skateboarding with concrete. Or something altogether different – but you will roll down a green mountainside on four tiny wheels, standing on a board.

Snowboarders can get frustrated because wheels behave different. And skateboarders are not used to the more uneven aspects of a mountain. But both will have the edge on total beginners, as they know the basic moves. Others will have to learn. Which you can do in the stunning scenery of the Mourne Mountains, just north of the border. Beginners courses will have you going down that hill in no time, but on easy slopes first. Be prepared for some grass stains, especially on your lower back, nonetheless.

Surfin’ Dirt is the place to go if you want to (or need to) learn the basics of mountain boarding. They provide safety gear and boards.
