Zoos and Wildlife Parks of Ireland

From Bernd Biege, About.com

While Irish wildlife tends to be on the underwhelming side (less than thirty land mammals are considered native), vacationers can see rare animals here - three major zoos and wildlife parks are open to the public. The zoos in Dublin and Belfast and the extensive park in Fota are home to a variety of species. From big cats to small monkeys, from colorful exotic waterfowl to large South-American rodents, from the common to the unusual. And with some surprises thrown in. At all sights you will find animals roaming free, though not necessarily by design. Whether you are an animal lover yourself or are traveling with kids, a visit should be considered. For further details please also refer to our in-depth reviews of Dublin Zoo, Belfast Zoo and Fota Wildlife Park.
