You leave Boa Island on the A47, carry on along the shore of Lough Erne and soon reach Castle Caldwell Forest Park. This nature reserve is a good spot for bird watching, walks or a picnic, stop if you like. Or head straight on to Belleek.

Belleek is on the border between Fermanagh and Donegal, which also means on the international border between Northern Ireland and the Republic. This is still obvious in places, though the massive border post is gone and the drastically altered security situation in Northern Ireland has rendered most controls obsolete.

The claim to fame of the small town is the renowned Belleek Pottery, delicate chinaware much sought after internationally. Pottery tours are run on a regular basis, a museum and showroom highlight the product further. A restaurant will keep you refreshed in the visitor center as well ... this might be an ideal place to rest and recuperate for a while. Though your purse might take a hit if some pottery tickles your fancy!

Afterwards head out of Belleek for Lough Navar Forest and the Cliffs of Magho ...
