What is Knock Airport Like?

Basically one of Ireland's largest airports and built in the middle of nowhere, Knock Airport was Monsignor Horan's dream. The clergyman initiated the project to serve the pilgrims heading for the Marian Shrine at Knock. Facilities and infrastructure are basic and geared towards pilgrim groups rather than conventional tourists.

How to Get to Knock Airport

  • By Car
    Signposted locally.
  • By Train
The nearest railway stations would be Ballyhaunis, Claremorris and Castlebar - all at least 20 kilometers away.

Destinations Served from Knock Airport

  • Ireland – Dublin
  • Europe – Scheduled flights to Birmingham, East Midlands (UK), Luton, Manchester and Stansted.
  • Long-Haul – Boston and New York.

Why You Should Fly via Knock Airport

Obviously the airport is ideal if you are on a pilgrimage to Knock - but tourists might find it convenient for the northwest of Ireland as well.
