Guide Review - Hotels in Dublin - Pembroke Townhouse, Pembroke Road
This Dublin hotel is a gem - located right between the city center, the Lansdowne Road Stadium and the RDS Showgrounds as well as near most embassies it is ideal for the business traveller who wants some old-world charm. But who also needs modern facilities like WiFi. By completely revamping a Georgian terrace the Pembroke House has provided both.
Rooms are moderately large (very small rooms are the norm for such an old building) and furnished in a modern style, not exactly utilitarian but with no major frills either. The especially commissioned contemporary Irish art sets some highlights but is not overbearing.
Secure parking is available at the back and hard to find after dark. The service is good and friendly. All in all the Pembroke House has managed to retain some sort of cozy family atmosphere while running a highly professional and efficient operation.
Breakfast will be a pleasant surprise to most visitors - you can choose from a comprehensive menu including even sauteed liver (highly recommended). As every meal is freshly prepared you will have to get up a few minutes earlier if you want to use this excellent service, but the ten or so minutes of sleep lost are a small price to pay.
