Irish Wildlife, Zoos and National Parks

While it might not be high on every visitor's agaenda, a glimpse at Ireland's natural beauty is highly recommended. From the (often remote and rugged) National Parks to local nature reserves. And don't forget to take in the zoos, visitor farms and similar attractions. As well as simply keeping your eyes open while out and about.
Belfast Zoo
Belfast Zoo is set in a spectacular landscape - clinging to the craggy hillside high above the city.

Bull Island, Dublin
A paradise for birdwatchers, a good place for beach life, a breath of fresh air just a few minutes from Dublin City ... and home of the Bull Island Mouse.
Dublin Zoo
Dublin Zoo in picturesque Phoenix Park is amongst the oldest zoos in Europe - and the original MGM lion's roar originated here!

Fota Wildlife Park, Cork
Well worth a visit especially if travelling with children, the Fota Wildlife Park is well loved for its animals roaming free.

Fungi the Dingle Dolphin
Dingle Bay is home to Fungi, a solitary dolphin known for interacting with humans. Unfortunately the dolphin's behavior is not natural and the large amount of activities centering on the one animal seems to be too much at times.
National Botanic Gardens, Dublin
The National Botanic Gardens are Ireland's premier center for all things horticultural - especially popular with Dubliners out for an aesthetically pleasing Sunday stroll through (tamed) nature.
Phoenix Park, Dublin
One of the largest parks in the world and one of Dublin's main sights, the Phoenix Park contains a large number of attractions and is one of the favorite destinations for Dubliners wanting to get out of "the big smoke".
